Back-To- School is almost here!!!

As classes resume in a few weeks, families have started looking for school supplies & compiling everything their children will need to go back to school.  However, as rising inflation & supply chain issues prevail all over the country, many families still struggle to fulfill their most basic necessities, including proper school supplies for their children.

Statistics show that the majority of Canadians agree that families may experience financial distress when purchasing back-to-school items. About 70 percent of young Canadians said that they try to stick to the bare minimum when shopping for back-to-school supplies. Besides this, recent data released by the National Retail Federation (NRF), the largest retail trade association in the world, also revealed that consumers were reducing their spending in other categories to cover back-to-school expenses.

We are aware that many students still lack the necessary school materials for the current academic year. The need is much higher for many of our families as we continue to struggle with the post-pandemic effect & surging inflation. This is why Afro Canadian Development is taking the initiative to support families who are struggling to afford the school supplies for their children through “BACK TO SCHOOL AID” which will be happening this September 5, 2022 (Monday). Through this event, we will be giving out free back-to-school supplies like pens, pencils, erasers, backpacks, bottles, copies, highlighters & many more to the families who need them the most.

Anyone who would like to receive the school supplies for free is required to fill out the registration form.

Or you can walk in & register at the venue as well.

Apart from this, donation of any amount or school supplies will be highly appreciated. You could be a part of this initiative & help a child go back to school.
