STEM Program For Children & Youth
With the aim to empower & increase the representation of the children and youth population from underserved and low-income communities in the STEM field, Afro-Canadian Development initiated the STEM Project. We have been running this Project with some of the renowned Coding & Robotics service providers such as MakerKids and Ultimate Coders since January 2023. Our STEM Project for Children and Youth consists of enriched and interactive weekly sessions on Coding & Robotics (6 – 12 years & 13 – 18 years).
** All the sessions are free**
**Accredited certificates and STEM tool kits will be provided to all the participating children and youths upon completion of the sessions. **
REGISTRATION FOR JULY – DECEMBER 2025 IS OPEN!

Coding Classes
Our weekly coding session aims to build coding skills in children and youth through fun and engaging coding sessions which consist of Scratch Programming for 6 – 12 years and Python Programming for 13 – 18 years.
Scratch Programming: Children can engage in programming and collaborate globally by creating and sharing interactive media, including stories, games, and animations.
Python Programming: Python is a dynamic and user-friendly coding language, making it an excellent choice for youths, especially as their first Coding language. It allows young coders to progress from simple “Hello world” Projects to developing applications and games.

Robotics Classes
Robotics sessions introduce and educate children and youth on the fundamentals of robotics and teach students to design their own electrical circuits and sensors and learn about coding them using the Arduino IDE. Some activities at the robotics sessions include wiring circuits, coding a virtual ‘robot brain’, building projects such as nightlights, motion-activated alarms, rovers, and many more.
