Toronto, ON – November 2025 – Afro Canadian Development Inc. hosted two transformative community safety training sessions this fall, furthering our mission to build stronger, safer, and more informed communities across the Greater Toronto Area (GTA).

On October 23, 2025, we held an in-person CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention) Information Session, followed by an online First Aid and CPR Information Session on November 12, 2025. Both sessions were delivered by our highly skilled, certified CPI and CPR Trainer, Leticia Animodi, whose expertise, passion, and dedication continue to empower individuals and families across the communities we serve.

Participants gained a strong foundational understanding of how to recognize, respond to, and manage life-threatening emergencies. Through practical demonstrations and interactive workshop sessions, attendees learned how to:

  • Identify critical signs of medical emergencies, including the symptoms of a heart attack such as chest pain, arm or jaw discomfort, shortness of breath, nausea, sweating, and a sense of impending doom.
  • Respond rapidly and confidently to emergency situations using proven first-aid strategies.
  • Apply CPI principles to diffuse crisis situations with compassion, communication, and control.

These sessions equipped participants with life-saving knowledge and practical skills, empowering them to take immediate action while waiting for professional emergency responders to arrive. Many left the training expressing a renewed sense of confidence, preparedness, and community responsibility.

“When community members are equipped with the right knowledge, they become powerful agents of safety and change,” said Leticia Animodi, our certified trainer. “The confidence participants gained through these sessions can help save lives.”
