North York, ON – June 18, 2025 — As families across the Greater Toronto Area prepare for a new school year, many are faced with the growing challenge of providing even the most basic supplies for their children. In response to this urgent need, Afro Canadian Development Inc. is proud to announce its Fourth Annual Back-to-School Aid Event, set to take place on Saturday, August 23, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM in North York, Ontario.
Thanks to the immense support from our corporate partners like TD, CIBC Foundation, Honda Canada Foundation and community members, this initiative has become a beacon of hope for hundreds of families each year. Since its humble beginning in 2022, this life-changing initiative has grown exponentially – supporting 100 students in its first year, 190 in 2023, and 250 in 2024. This year, our goal is even more ambitious: to provide 300 children and youth from underprivileged and low-income families with complete, grade-appropriate school supply kits, giving them the tools they need to thrive academically and emotionally.
📚 Why It Matters
As the cost of living continues to rise, essential school supplies have become a luxury for many families. But this program is about more than just pencils and backpacks—it’s about restoring dignity, building confidence, and empowering students to step into the classroom with pride. One grateful parent shared,
“Thanks to the generous donations of school supplies, I was able to ensure my child had everything necessary for a successful school year. It helped ease the financial burden and stress.”
